What Stillscope collects, why it needs it, who else handles it, how long it is kept, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Stillscope is run by a sole proprietor based in Pakistan, who decides how the personal information described here is used — in legal terms, its “controller”. You can reach us at support@stillscope.com.
What we collect
- Your Google account basics — your name, email address, profile picture and Google’s ID for your account — when you sign in, and when you last signed in and agreed to our Terms. We never see your Google password. While sign-up is closed, signing in also records your request for an account.
- What you give us to make videos: scripts, voiceovers, photographs, clips, channel details, pronunciations and your settings. Files are kept as you upload them, including any details stored inside them, such as where a photo was taken. Some formats use a real person’s face or a recording of their voice; only give us those with that person’s permission.
- The videos we make, and records of them: titles, formats, lengths, and the credits held and charged.
- When you buy credits, a record of each purchase: the pack, the amount and any tax, the date, the name and email address used at checkout, and Whop’s reference for the payment. Whop handles your card or other payment details; we never see them.
- The email addresses of editors you invite into your studio.
- Public information about the YouTube channels you add, such as a channel’s name, picture and public statistics.
- Messages you send us, by email or on WhatsApp.
- Technical information that comes with using any website: your IP address and the pages and files you ask for, in our server logs.
- A sign-in cookie, a few settings saved in your browser, and — if you turn notifications on — your browser’s push subscription. The Cookie Policy lists each one.
We don’t use advertising or analytics trackers, we don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use your scripts, recordings or videos to train AI models.
How we use it, and why we may
- To provide the service you signed up for: signing you in, making your videos, adding the credits you buy, keeping your balance and history, and emailing you when your account is ready. We need to do this to keep our agreement with you.
- To keep Stillscope safe and working: preventing abuse and fraud, including payment fraud, fixing what goes wrong, and understanding how the service is used so we can improve it. We have a legitimate interest in running a service that is safe and works.
- To send the notifications you turn on. You asked for them, and you can turn them off at any time.
- To keep financial records and meet other legal duties, because the law requires it.
We don’t make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Who else handles it
Stillscope uses other companies to do parts of its work. They handle your information on our behalf, only to provide the service:
- a cloud hosting provider, which stores your account, files and videos and sends our emails;
- Google, for sign-in, and for the public YouTube information about channels you add;
- AI, search and media services that turn what you submit into narration, transcripts, pictures, video and presenters — each receives only what its step needs, such as a script, search words taken from it, a recording or a photograph. They don’t receive your email address;
- your browser’s push service, which delivers the notifications you turn on;
- a messaging service we use to alert ourselves when a video fails, or when a payment comes in, is refunded or is disputed, which receives your email address and the details of that video or payment.
When you buy credits, you pay on Whop’s checkout. Whop, our payment provider, processes the payment, works out and collects any tax, and checks payments for fraud. It receives what you enter at checkout and handles it under its own privacy policy, and it sends us the record of the purchase described above.
If you message us on WhatsApp, WhatsApp also handles that conversation, under its own privacy policy. The example videos on our homepage play from YouTube once you press play, as the Cookie Policy explains. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
Where it is processed
Stillscope is run from Pakistan, and the providers above store and process information in other countries, including in Asia, Europe and North America. The data-protection laws of those countries may not match the laws where you live. We share only what each provider needs to do its part.
How long we keep it
- Finished videos are deleted ten days after they are made. A still picture of each is kept until you delete the video.
- The working files for each video, including a copy of its script and its logs, are deleted after 30 days.
- The scripts and recordings you give us, and the presenter clips made for your videos, are kept after a video is made, so it can be made again without recording its narration twice. We delete them when you ask.
- Presenter photographs and cloned voices are kept until you delete them in Stillscope, or ask us to.
- Account, billing and video records are kept while your account is open, and afterwards for as long as we need them for accounting, security and resolving disputes. Our backups contain copies of these records.
How we protect it
Stillscope works only over encrypted connections, the sign-in cookie is signed and can’t be read by a page’s scripts, and access to the systems that hold your information is limited to the person who runs Stillscope. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong in a way that puts you at risk, we will tell you.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it; to correct it; to delete it; to object to how we use it or ask us to limit it; and to take it with you. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Some of this you can do yourself inside Stillscope: delete videos, presenters and cloned voices, remove channels, turn notifications off and close your account. Closing your account ends your access but does not delete what we hold. To have that deleted, or for anything else, email support@stillscope.com from the address on your account, and we will answer within 30 days. We may have to keep some records, such as payment history, even after you ask us to delete them.
If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom or anywhere else with a data-protection authority, you can also complain to it — though we’d ask you to tell us first, so we can try to put it right.
Stillscope doesn’t track you across other websites, so a browser’s “Do Not Track” signal has nothing here to switch off.
The figures on our homepage
Our homepage shows totals, such as how many videos Stillscope has made and how many times they have been watched on YouTube. If you tag your videos to a YouTube channel, that channel’s public view counts can be part of those totals. We never show your channel’s name, picture or videos on our pages without your permission.
Children
Stillscope is for people aged 18 and over, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
If you appear in someone’s video
If someone gave Stillscope a photograph or recording of you without your permission, email support@stillscope.com and we will remove it.
Changes and questions
We may update this policy. The date at the top changes when we do, and if a change matters we will say so in the app.
Email support@stillscope.com. If you have an account, the Help section of your Account page reaches us too.
